Health is what happens between appointments
Every enrolled student has a named clinician and same-week appointments at the Ridgeline health centre.
That sentence is easy to write and difficult to fund. What makes it work here is that the health service sits inside the university's own budget rather than being contracted out, so it is measured on whether students get better rather than on how many appointments it processed.
What the service covers
- A named clinician for every registered student, for the whole of their degree.
- A walk-in clinic every weekday morning with no appointment and no triage call.
- Counselling within ten working days, and a same-day duty service alongside it.
- Physiotherapy shared with the sport programme, so injuries are seen by people who understand the sport.
- A pharmacy on the ground floor of the same building.
Why it sits inside the teaching hospital
Students on clinical programmes learn in the building where they will later work, supervised by staff who also teach them in seminars. Students on every other programme get a health service staffed by people who are unusually good at explaining things, because explaining things is half their job.
Findings from the research floor reach clinical practice in months rather than years, because the people doing the research and the people seeing patients are frequently the same people.

Visiting
The hospital is a ten-minute walk from the main campus and is open to visitors on the ground and first floors. Prospective students on clinical programmes can request a supervised tour of the simulation suite through the school office.
