The Northcrest teaching hospital shares a site, a staff list and a research budget with the School of Medicine & Allied Health. Clinicians teach, and academics see patients. It is an unusual arrangement and it is the reason findings here reach clinical practice in months rather than years.

A named clinician, same-week appointments, and a walk-in clinic every weekday morning.

Yes, and it takes about four minutes online during enrolment. Registering is what gives you a named clinician and access to the walk-in clinic.
No. General practice, mental health, sexual health and physiotherapy are all free at the point of use for enrolled students. Prescriptions are charged at the standard rate.
The duty service runs every weekday and holds slots back specifically for same-day problems. Out of hours, the hospital emergency department is a ten-minute walk from the main campus.
Never. Clinical records are held by the health service and are not accessible to academic staff, tutors or administrators under any circumstances.
Medicine and allied-health students begin supervised placements in their first term. Students on other programmes can apply for shadowing weeks through the school office.
